Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud. (From the Reach Out and Read web site.)
Volunteers are needed to organize books and to read to children in pediatric waiting rooms. Reach Out and Read is active at the Lynn Community Health Center.
For more information, see the Reach Out and Read volunteer page, request more information about volunteering at the Salem Family Health Center or contact Clare Hayes at CHayes@lchcnet.org for volunteering in Lynn.
