The mission of the New American Center Youth Program is to empower refugee and immigrant youth in grades K through 12 by equipping them with the skills and tools they need to thrive in their new homes in the United States. To accomplish this, we not only strive to uphold the goals and values of NAAM, but also to:
-Increase the English proficiency of the refugee students
-Promote academic achievement and high school completion
-Advance the students’ full integration into the public schools and community at large
Volunteering at the NAC
We are currently seeking volunteers who can help with our after-school program. We need fun and patient people who can help with homework, tutoring, and science and art activities. Prior experience working with children or immigrants is a plus, but not required!
Our hours are 3:00 to 5:00, Monday-Thursday and we'd prefer volunteers who are able to commit to at least one afternoon a week for the semester.
