SUMMARY:FAFSA Day
DESCRIPTION:Join LEAP for Education for FAFSA Day on Sunday\, November 3. \nVolunteers will answer questions regarding the FAFSA that families might have\, show students how to begin their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications\, and ensure that families leave the event having completed and submitted their applications\, as well as having an understanding of follow up steps. Knowledge/experience with the FAFSA application is be helpful\, but is not required. \nThe event is open to students from 10am until 1pm\, and volunteers are asked to be there from 9:15am to 1:15pm. \nThere will be a required training session at Salem High School on the second floor of the library on Monday\, October 28 from 6 to 8pm. If you cannot attend this mandatory training just let us know so we can try to make alternate arrangements. At the event\, there will be a FAFSA expert\, as well as staff with plenty of experience helping families fill out the application. \nVolunteers who have missed the training will be sent a training video to become familiar with the FAFSA. \nContact Susan Ward at 978-740-6667 x105 or email sward@leap4ed.org.

DESCRIPTION:LEAP for Education is looking for volunteers to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). \nLEAP for Education is partnering with Salem Academy Charter School in collaboration with FAFSA Day Massachusetts. This is a volunteer driven program providing free help statewide to students and families looking to complete the FAFSA. \nFAFSA Day will take place Sunday\, November 4 at Salem Academy Charter School (45 Congress Street\, Salem) and will be open to the public from 10am to 1pm. Families can drop in anytime and fill out the FAFSA form on their own or with assistance from staff and volunteers. \nVolunteers will answer questions regarding the FAFSA that families might have\, show students how to begin their FAFSA applications\, and ensure that families leave the event having completed and submitted their applications. \nTraining is required for all volunteers on Thursday\, November 1 from 6 to 8pm at Salem Academy Charter School to ensure that each volunteer is comfortable with the forms and the requirements.
