The NSMM delivers groceries monthly to nearly 200 households in local communities. The NSMM is also the only mobile market that includes pet food with regular delivery. \nWe all need to be fed. If you are able to make this shift it would be absolutely fabulous! SUMMARY:Haunted Happenings Grand Parade
DESCRIPTION:The 24th annual Haunted Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will take place on Thursday\, October 3. The parade has long been a special nighttime tradition for the city of Salem and visitors alike to officially kick off Salem’s Halloween season. Over 10\,000 spectators (children\, adults\, and those in between) enjoy the color\, pageantry\, music\, and enthusiasm of the annual parade. \nVolunteers are needed to help with the parade. Volunteer duties can include: \n\nGiving directions\nOrganizing a section of the parade (getting the 10-12 different schools/businesses in the right order for the parade)\nWalking the parade/carrying a banner in the parade\nAssisting the Salem PD with crowd control on the pedestrian mall (if we have enough volunteers).\n\nWe ask volunteers to arrive at Shetland Properties between 5:15 and 5:30pm. DESCRIPTION:The North Shore Moving Market (NSMM) is a free food\, free delivery service operating to assist low-income elderly\, handicapped\, and disadvantaged individuals and families. The NSMM delivers groceries monthly to nearly 200 households in local communities. The NSMM is also the only mobile market that includes pet food with regular delivery. \nWe all need to be fed. Here’s how you can feed and be fed! \nVolunteers are needed to help deliver groceries on Wednesday mornings from approximately 9am until noon. Come and learn the side roads of Salem\, see first hand how your volunteering helps\, and hear a heartfelt “God bless you.” All you need is a car and a warm heart! \nContact via web form.

DESCRIPTION:The October Salem Meet & Eat will be on Wednesday\, October 9 from 5:30 to 7pm. Setup begins at 4:45pm and cleanup should be finished by 7:15. Help is needed with: \n\nSetup: Help with setting tables\, arranging chairs\, etc.\nDishwashing: Salem Meet & Eat received a large donation of plates that will generate less trash and make the event more sustainable! However\, we will now require more volunteer dishwashers. Dishwashers must be over 18\, wear non-skid\, closed-toed shoes\, and arrive 20 minutes early to learn how to use the dishwasher.\nServing: Filling water glasses\, bringing meals to the tables from the kitchen for those who need assistance\, and serving desserts.  Gloves will be provided\, long hair must be restrained\, and comfortable\, non-slip shoes recommended. If you will be serving\, please arrive by 5:15 for brief instructions.\nRegistration table: We are asking all diners to sign in at the registration table. DESCRIPTION:The Salem Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from June 13 through October 17. Volunteers are needed to help: once a week\, once a month\, or once in a while. \nVolunteer needs are: \nSetup (1:30 to 3pm): This is part of the market where we could really use volunteers. If you are able to make this shift it would be absolutely fabulous! The ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds ideal. \n\nSetting up our tents.\nSetting up our equipment (sound stuff for musicians).\nHelping vendors unpack their goods (light to heavy to awkward-to-hold items; this is optional but neighborly\, useful\, and fun).\n\nMarket (3 to 5 or 5 to 7pm). \n\nCounting visitors (great if you love people watching).\nAnswering questions (or finding Gus or Kylie to answer the questions).\n\nBreakdown (6:30 to 8pm): The ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds is ideal. \n\nBreaking down our tents.\nBringing our equipment and supplies down to storage (light to heavy to awkward-to-hold items).\nHelping vendors break their tents down and helping pack their trucks/cars (light to heavy to awkward to hold items; this is optional but neighborly\, useful\, and fun).\nWatching vendors’ stuff when they go get their trucks/cars (also optional but also neighborly\, useful\, and fun).\n\nContact Gillian at salemfarmersmarket@gmail.com.
