DESCRIPTION:Organized jointly by SalemRecycles and The Bridge at 211\, the North Shore’s fourth Repair Café will take place on Saturday\, November 3 from 9am until noon at The Bridge at 211. Repair volunteers will be available to mend clothing\, sew buttons\, sharpen scissors and knives\, tinker with or rewire electronics and lamps\, and glue wooden furniture and ceramics. \nVolunteers are needed for check in and check out\, at the staff refreshment table\, and for parking assistance. DESCRIPTION:LEAP for Education is looking for volunteers to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). \nLEAP for Education is partnering with Salem Academy Charter School in collaboration with FAFSA Day Massachusetts. This is a volunteer driven program providing free help statewide to students and families looking to complete the FAFSA. \nFAFSA Day will take place Sunday\, November 4 at Salem Academy Charter School (45 Congress Street\, Salem) and will be open to the public from 10am to 1pm. Families can drop in anytime and fill out the FAFSA form on their own or with assistance from staff and volunteers. \nVolunteers will answer questions regarding the FAFSA that families might have\, show students how to begin their FAFSA applications\, and ensure that families leave the event having completed and submitted their applications. \nTraining is required for all volunteers on Thursday\, November 1 from 6 to 8pm at Salem Academy Charter School to ensure that each volunteer is comfortable with the forms and the requirements. SUMMARY:Salem Community Life Center food program
DESCRIPTION:The Salem Community Life Center is working with the United States Department of Agriculture and the Greater Boston Food Bank to to offer a Commodity Supplemental Food Program for income eligible seniors age 60 and over who are in need of supplementing their diets. \nSome seniors will need someone to pick up their groceries from the distribution site and deliver them. Volunteers will pick up packages between 12 and 1 pm at the Danvers Council on Aging at 25 Stone Street in Danvers and it will take approximately one hour to deliver to Salem seniors. (With more participants\, a distribution site will be set up in Salem.) 2018 distribution dates are Monday\, October 1\, Monday\, November 5\, and Monday\, December 3. \nVolunteers must have their own car\, be able to lift 10lbs\, and pass a CORI check. \nContact the Salem Social Service Department at 978-744-0924.

DESCRIPTION:Salem Main Streets is pleased to announce the return of the Salem Winter Market!  A seasonal extension of the Salem Farmers’ Market\, this year’s Salem Winter Market is returning to historic Old Town Hall on Saturday\, November 17 and Saturday\, December 15\, both from 1 to 5 pm. \nHelp will be needed with setup\, at the information table\, and for breakdown.  For setup and breakdown volunteers will need to be able to lift up to 50lbs\, help vendors load and unload products\, and be on your feet.
