The store is closed to the public on Tuesdays but is open for a staff and volunteer work day. Volunteers are needed Tuesdays through Saturdays from 8:30am until 4:30pm for three to six hour shifts. Joseph's Storehouse's mission is to alleviate hunger with supplemental food and emergency food assistance in the greater Salem area; to provide children with life-changing opportunities; to deliver groceries to the elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged; to offer programs to all ages that promote growth and self-confidence; and to serve the community with grace, dignity, and non-discrimination. Join the Salem YMCA as it assembles Care Kits for children entering the foster system. Donations are currently being accepted at the Salem YMCA for blankets, toothbrushes, toothpaste, travel shampoo and conditioner, children's books, and money for water bottles and bags.
