Salem Summer Meals blitz

June 27, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

On Thursday, June 27 from 4 to 6:30pm, the City of Salem will host its fourth annual Salem Summer Meals Blitz at the Salem Common playground. This event organizes volunteers and partners to raise awareness of the Salem Summer Meals program. Groups of volunteers will work in teams to canvas the community with outreach materials about the free summer meals available to all children ages 0-18. The goal is to get the word out to all families by distributing information all over Salem and explaining Salem Summer Meals to those you meet along the way.

Salem Summer Meals is part of the Summer Food Service Program, a federally-funded nutrition program that provides free meals to children ages 18 and under when school is not in session. In Massachusetts, the program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education with support from the Child Nutrition Outreach Program at Project Bread.
